We're going to be looking for another house in the spring. A natural pond isn't going to be one of our requirements, but we're going to list it very high in the "nice to have" category. One thing that's really puzzling me about that is how we can know what's already in it. We'd ask the owners, but owners don't always know. I've thought of dragging it, but that's not going to be reliable either since things that go in the pond like snapping turtles might not be in the pond at that time.
Any ideas how we can determine this even if it's a combination of dragging the pond and things otherwise? We so much want a natural pond for them, but we also don't want to risk them being hurt by something that lives in it or spends time in it.
