Any ideas on breed?

I have just inherited this chicken (and her chicks which are from a range of other chickens). Wondering if anyone has any ideas on the breed of mum? Expecting she is a mix but of what I am not sure . Thanks!

Looks quite similar to a Basque Hen. I have no clue if those are at all plausible given that I assume you're from New Zealand. She appears to potentially have Ocular Merek's Disease. Before exposing her to your other flock definitely look into this!!

Thanks I have a quarantine area around the new arrivals. Will check with a vet.

Agree with Ocular Marek's. Honestly I wouldn't bring her or the chicks onto your property if your current flock is Marek's free. It is carried on the wind in their dander and is almost impossible to get rid of once you have it.

Read up on it here before taking her home. Speak with an Avian vet about it or a local ag vet. The kind that do necropsies for poultry farmers. Not one that sees cattle and sheep.
