I have a few birds that I got at a local poultry auction and was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas on what kind they are.

Is this polish a rooster or a hen ? I'm thinking rooster but it hasn't crowed yet. Its head was allmost picked clean of it"s feathers and I felt sorry for him and just had to have him, I know he will look better eventually.

thanks, Terri

First two look like Dark Brahmas, but they have a pea comb and the rooster has a single. Maybe Silver Pencilled Cochin? Cant see the third picture. Then Easter Egger then Polish then Rhode Island Red, I believe.

I'm not to sure but the first two might be pencilled laced Cochin's, last one Rhode Island Red.

from what I can see of your rooster from the side and what's left of his poor little poof....it looks to be a rooster. The hens have really nice formed "poofs on their head. The rooster's have a more "disheveled" poof. Hope that helps a little.

I have answers for you

1st pic -- silver penciled cochins
2nd and 3rd pics -- look like birchen cochins
4th pic --EE
5th pic -- Polish looks like a roo
6th pic -- RIR

Compare your 1st pic with my silver penciled cochins:

Mine are 15 weeks now, about 12 weeks in the pic!!

Thanks everyone, I have several more that need ID"s also.

The first is probably around 3 months old and I think it is probably a mix but what do you think the mix is? I know it's pretty hard to see through the fence so here are several pics.
