Any ideas on the breed of this turkey?

Hey there,
I recently hatched out a dozen "wild" turkey eggs but had a couple of these guys mixed in with them lol Any idea on what it may be. I've only ever hatched royal palms and wilds so this is a new color for me. Wild crosses?
Thanks in advance!

Looks like they may be a narragansett turkey. To me they usually look like a cross between royal palms and wilds when they are young.

I would say either Red bronze or Golden Narragansett. Hard to tell for sure at this age. If you go to Kevin Porters site (www.portersturkeys.com), you can see many of the color varieties and the downy poults they produce. Whether it is a standard bronze or wild turkey, the genetics work the same. Are these eggs you aquired through a breeder or ebay? I have purchased eggs from ebay that had "extras" sent which were from another breed. Many times they will say "X number of eggs plus extra" but don't tell you the extras are stuff you don't want!

That's what I once thought!
I started with Wilds and never pictured having any domestic heritage varieties. After a few years, and looking at the birds on Porters site, I tried some. What I found was that the domestics were much more personable, easier to take care of, and apt to stay around if they were free ranged or got out of the pen. You may be very surprised when those little poults grow up and act like the family dog!

Then you might not have the heart to turn them into dinner! Keep us up to date on their progress. I'd be curious to know what they become.

Thanks everyone! I'll keep ya posted. I'll take a couple more pics in a week or 2.
