Any Ideas on what killed my Rooster? Graphic Pictures!

OMG! Im so sorry about Henry:hit He was such a pretty boy:(
He does look like he just tried to jump to the top and missed his mark:( I know this wont make you feel alot better but that may mean he had a painless death.

I found him like that Sunday morning, I just couldn't bare to talk about it till now. I Couldn't believe it when I went out to check on everyone. I think something was scaring him because decided he didn't want to go in the coop anymore and was sleeping outside in the woods!! I tried catching him all day Friday, and Saturday but with no luck he was to fast for me. I was able to get him into the old Temp coop that night ( after dark ) so I figured I would leave him in there. I turned the electric fence on, put food and water in with him and figured all would be good, I guess not

I wondered if maybe he did it himself but he couldn't fly that high ( he was to fat

LOL )

Before we got our coop built he protected his hens from a Weasel, Raccoon, and even a Bear! This all happened when they where in the temp coop and he never flew out or even tried. He was truly a great rooster, and only 3 months old! He was a big boy and really couldn't lift himself off the ground let alone fly, thats why I am not sure

Thanks again

I'm really shocked he wouldn't go in and sleep with his ladies. I lost my big boy about two months ago to what I think was a respiratory ailment. I'm vigilent now and on to some of the possible causes but he was 'the canary in the coal mine' so to speak. I loved that boy and I tried not to because I didn't want to jinx him. I figure, based on my observations about roos and stories from others here, that the roo would be the one to 'sacrifice himself' for his ladies, that he would want to be the first to go, whether by predator, illness or what have you. I wonder if being out at night, though, he was diverting the attention of some predator? You should always pay attention to any unusual or change in roo behavior, albiet it may look stupid!

I am so sorry for the loss of your rooster.

Sure looks like an accidental hanging to me. Sort of like he wanted to roost on that fencing, but slipped on thwe metal then his head and neck got stuck between the gates.
Again, I am soncerely sorry for your loss.

OMG this is awful!! i'm truely sorry for your loss, you must be gutted. I'm sorry i can't give much imput on whether a predator did this, as we don't have the nasty critters you guys do. Maybe if he wasn't happy being in the coop he may have tried to jump/fly out, maybe the fireworks or a predator could of scared him enough to try and escape.
