Any ideas on what kind of hens these are?

Can anyone help me determine what kinds of breeds my hens are? They were strays in our yard so I have no idea how old they are or anything about their history. The orange one (Shelly) was killed last week

. The dark one (Cajun) is actually dark brown with an irridescent sheen to her feathers that make her look green sometimes. She has a herringbone pattern in her feathers. Shelly was the dominant one but never agressive towards Cajun. She would, however, chase our cats and occasionally give them an unprovoked sharp peck. Shelly was very docile towards us and would squat down and put out her wings for us to pick her up when we came to get her. She would come when we called her. Cajun will, too, but usually because she was following Shelly. Cajun is more skittish but she will let us hold her, too, after a good chase

They are larger birds, not bantam. They lay brown eggs.

sorry to hear about shelly. I think she was a new hampshire. She looks a lot like ours. I am not sure on the other bird. she is pretty

The darker bird looks like a welsummer.

New Hampshire was always my best guess on Shelly. I think I've read that they always have the black streak on their tail feathers, which she always did.

The second birds looks like a Partridge Rock. You can see the triple lacing.

New Hampshire and Welsummer. Have had both. Seems the laced one is a bit narrow for a Partridge Rock, though it may be.

Now that I am looking at this thread.. I realize I ordered 2 orpingtons, thought I had one red star and one orpington now I know she is not a red star but a New Hampshire, with the black tail feathers and color she looks just like my girl-now I know....I was suspicious, glad for the confirmation, thanks everybody.

I've looked up pics of the Partridge Plymouth Rock and I can almost guarantee that is what my Cajun is.

Partridge Plymouth Rock have Yellow legs...
