Any ideas what breed this one is?

I have a friend that takes my excess roos and lets them free range on her goat farm to eat flies, bugs and ticks. Got any farming friends that need a 2 legged, feathered exterminator???

Where these all from the same hatch? Where did you get them? If they are all sex links the pullets will look like the far left and the cockerels will have barring.

Can you post a close-up of your barred chicks - maybe a side view. Also, if you post a side view of the black/brown chick, we might be able to verify whether or not it's a BSL.

I got them all at TS marked st run mixed I was going for BR pullets I checked the wing feathers all had alternating short and long, also turned each one over none relaxed in this pisition. At this point I wounder If they may be Dominics?

The barred chicks are either barred rocks or male sex-links because they have straight combs - dominiques have a different type of comb. After seeing the new pictures, the dark chick is definitely a female BSL.

Male BSL chicks have barring and look a lot like barred rocks, while the pullets are black with the brown feathering. I've raised BLS pullets & BR pullets, but no cockerels and can't tell whether your barred chicks are BSL or BR, but am suspecting BSL cockerels. Maybe someone else can tell which they are.

I hate to ask for another picture, but if you get a chance, post a couple photos of the darkest barred chick (the one we thought had the possibility of being a pullet). I'm not seeing much difference between them in the last group photo.

Well.... I hate to say it, but I'm guessing that all 5 barred chicks are cockerels. If they're BSL chicks, then they are definite cockerels (because of their barring). If they are barred rock chicks, I still don't see one that looks female. I'm not 100% sure that #3 is a roo, but it sure does look like one to me. It has a smaller comb, but the feathering is still pretty light. Typically, the barred rock pullets are darker than the roos and have a grey wash down the front of their legs.

This is one of my pullets at 7-8 weeks of age (you can see how she has has more black in her feathering than yours do).

Now, for the good news, your BSL pullet is a great choice. BSLs are awesome! Mine are so friendly and even though they're a bit ugly as chicks, they are very pretty when full grown and are supposed to lay LOTS of eggs (mine are still too young to lay). Their adult feathers will have a green sheen to them, just like the australorps have.
