Any ideas what I can do to help this baby?

i thought she was molting but she’s been like this for months. It’s just around her neck area, too. Any ideas what it could be? I’m wondering if the other chickens are picking on her but as she’s over two years old and it’s a new thing I’d be surprised. Do chickens get mites or skin issues? None of the other chickens are having this problem. Sorry I couldn’t get any closer, she’s a little shy.

That seems likely that she's getting picked at by the other chickens. Watch her with the other chickens at various times to see if you can catch them doing it. You should check her for lice or mites though. The best time to do this is after they've gone to roost for the night, as it is easier to get your hands on them. Check especially around the head and vent areas. Also run a while paper towel along the bottom of the roost, if it comes up red, those are squished mites.

I have been watching her and they don’t pick on her when she’s outside walking around anyway, but in the coop I don’t know. I’ll try the paper towel trick, anything else to look for to determine if it’s lice or mites? Thanks for the advice!

Lice should be visible to the eye, other than the paper towel thing I don't have much. Check the wing feathers for stripes that look thinner, kind of see through, that would be feather mites.

I have a 8 week old barred rock that started scratching her neck. I thought the other chicks might be pecking at her. They were not, but she was doing it to herself. Checked her for lice and bugs...not any. I sprayed Vetericyan that can be used on birds, cats, dogs and rabbits on and it seemed to help. I also made a collar out of gauze to help with her claws not tearing her skin. I did this for about 4 days. She is better but still scratches. I also changed their bedding from pine shavings to aspen. That seems to have helped. Made them a dust bath out of sand DEarth and dirt. also sprinkled DE in the shavings. I noticed that she still scratches , but not as bad. They are not in there coop and we take them out each day to stay in a rabbit hutch (we can't use for the rabbits) So not sure it was an allergy to the pine shavings or a nervous issue. She was also not as big as the other chicks. That has changed she is now almost as big as her mate. Hope this helps
