Any ideas what this bump may be ?

Just bought 2 day old chicks. My daughter noticed this bump just below the chicks behind.

Looks like it didn't absorb all the yolk and that bit on the tissue paper is possibly the umbilical cord. Keep that area clean and watch for lethargy.

It's their "belly button". Just like with babies it needs to be kept clean and left alone to heal - no picking at it, you can seriously hurt a chick. Watch and make sure it is not getting pecked by others, too.
