Any Ideas?

Aloha & Merry Christmas!!

I have to say you have very beautiful birds even though they are mixes. But I believe that you have a Black Sex-Linked hen for your first birds, or one that came from a sex-linked parent. My Roo T.J. had a Sex-Linked father who bred with a EE and he looked like his dad but not as clean and his sister from the same parenting has a look like a sex-linked pullet with more gold. But that is just my thought and assumption on that.

The other one, by size, is another barnyard mix. I see what looks like a black molting on the breast. But it could be anything. Partridge Rock(x), Golden Laced (x), Barred (x) and or anything with pattern. But I am no expert, I am looking at pattern and seeing what would leave that kind of pattern type on that kind of hen.

So happy hunting on the possible mix.

I have mixes too and I documented the crosses to make sure I know who bred with who. (I probably am the only one who does that here.

The first two look like black sexlink to me, though the first one could be Welsummer. The third could be another kind of Sexlink- to me it kind of looks like Welsummer/EE of BR/RIR.

And are they on the beach?

I'd vote hatchery quality Wellies on both. Def on the first one, probably on the second. I think the color's all wrong for sex-links. I think they're just part of the wide variety you get of a breed when you have hatchery birds. And I don't mean that as a bad thing, I buy hatchery birds! They're usually bred for laying well, and that's what I'm looking for. I don't care if the color isn't spot-on

No my yard is REALLY sandy! LOL We had two horses on our lot and they just about killed all of our grass. It is coming back slowly, but surely. Thanks for the replies everyone. I thought the first one was to "dark" for a wellie, but I have never seen one in person only in pics. It makes sense though since they come from a hatchery. I will get a better pic of the other girl and few others so we all can guess again!

This really won't help at all on trying to find the breed, lol, but I thought I'd add this. The TSC nearest to me (It's in Thomson, GA) orders their chicks from Privett Hatchery. I don't know if they do this every year but I do have it confirmed that this was who they ordered from this year. Not sure if all TSCs order from the same hatchery or not either. You havesome really pretty girls
