Any issues letting older-ish chicks explore the lawn?

Any issues with letting 5/6 week old chicks hang out on the lawn for a bit while somewhat contained and supervised? I'm sure they'll eat some grass, and I imagine it's fine. It's been a couple months since fertilizer was applied.

I have more of a dirt area too if that would be better. My 8yo just wants to hang out with them back there and grass is comfier than dirt. Thanks

It sounds fine to me.

Make sure they have had some grit, to help them grind up the grass they will eat.
Whoever is supervising them should keep an eye out for predators (which could include a hawk, or someone's pet dog, or quite a few other kinds of animals.)

We allow chicks to free range on the lawn. They usually don't wander to far from the housing we provide for them. Make sure they are warm enough, but also make sure they don't get to warm. Many owners don't free range chicks because the predator risk is very high.
