I study kendo and iaido. The japanese sword arts mainly have dabbled in kung fu.

My son was a combined martial arts instructor in the Marine Corps.

My family studies shotokan style Karate and weapons training as well.
We ALL love it!

My 16 y.o. DD and I study Okinawan Kempo, and are learning weapons as well.

Any of you participate in tournaments? Do you spar? How many times a week are your classes? What weapons are you learning?

I retired from teaching and competition following the 2000 US Open retaining my state championship . I hold 4th and 5th Dans in several Japanese hard styles, Tai ho Jitsu and Kobudo (weapons) styles. I studied several other styles include Shaolin Kempo It was a passion from age 6 on. I enjoyed competing but most of all being Sensei. Very rewarding. I would give anything to be able to teach again.

Competing became old but I earned several championship titles including a world championship. So, the trophies gather dust, the pics fade but the heart and mind do not forget.

Enjoy your sword class...I loved my swords and my katana, still do

my wife and I took Tae Kwon Do for about 2 years. Then we started a family and we just havent found the time to go back. I did love it. We were blue belts when we stopped

Studied mostly Isshinryu until early fifties, hips were giving out, they've been replaced so
no more running or karate but I also took up with Tai Chi in late forties, still practice it
and also teach it. Martial arts has been part of me for nearly 50 years.

I do a bit of Tai Chi, love it. Nice, low impact exercises that don't aggravate my back injury but allow me to stretch it nicely. I also have other physical problems that Tai Chi helps.

Did Shotokan, AKS and Wado Ryu for almost 10 years. I made it up to brown/ blue belt in all of them but never finished one with a black belt

wish i could go back and finish.
