Wow..........it is very interesting to hear of some of the many rumors and myths about being Mormon! Some have a very small grain of truth to them, but are badly distorted, others are sad at how totally incorrect they are.
I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, sometimes called "Mormon".

I don't even know where to start to clear up some of these statements, but the one that made me laugh out loud was the one about ripping out the carpet in the temple after the "open house" where members of the public are invited in, to get rid of the "cooties". In reality, it is ripped out to put new carpet down because thousands of people had walked on it, and even if it was only a few months old, it certainly wasn't clean anymore! They frequently do this in new housing developments with the Model Houses before the new owners move in, as everyone has walked through them and they are matted down and dirty.
As most have said, members of the LDS (mormon) church tend to be generous, kind, family-oriented, and conservative in moral beliefs (I am not speaking political beliefs, those are all over the board-- I am a Democrat!). If you have some Missionaries want to speak to you and you are not interested, JUST SAY SO! There is no way that you could join any church (mine included) without having an open heart and an acceptance of it--- this life is all about choice. I am sure that they would appreciate it if you said it kindly. If you ever change your mind, you can track some missionaries down again by finding the church in your phone book or by going to the
www.mormon.org website and requesting more info.
We believe, as most Christians do, that when you have the knowledge of the Savior it is important to share that with others, that is why missionary work is done.
Take care,
