Did a forum search for this exact topic, but didn't come across anything. So how about it? Our house is in the rugged Connemara region in the west of Ireland, and the part of our property on which we want to place the coop / run is in a natural state (i.e. long native grasses and weeds). It's mostly matted down pretty well at this stage. I've been reading about how the chickens will have it converted to dirt in about a month's time, so what do you think...do we need to knock some of this grass down a bit before we place the chickens in the run?

Sounds like we have consensus. Is there something I should sprinkle onto the grass (e.g. "DE") just in case there are any mites, etc. lurking in there?
