Any New Yorkers out there?

Hello Queens! I am not far from you in near Nassau County. When we lived in Queens I used to dream of chickens. Good for you for going ahead. I think you are legally allowed unlimited hens in the city. Just no roosters.

Same here I am in Westchester, It kills me that the city allows hens and not my town

I'm ashamed of any town that's closed minded to chicken keeping. We must teach them

I love NY and my 14 feet of snow...so far.

I love trudging through the snow to find my girls frolicking, happily in -0 weather, not complaining. Happy to see me. Happy to give me eggs. In summer they'll help with the ravaging eastern tent caterpillars. The ones that are destroying our Adirondack woods. There were so many 2 summers ago, that we could not walk down the driveway with out stepping on them...pop..pop..pop. And walking in the woods was like it was raining, but it was caterpillar poop falling from the trees. Give me chicken poop anyday!

The trees suffered and there were no apples on my trees that year. That is when I decided to get chickens.

We need more chickens in NY. GET CHICKENS

Hi,

I'm in Nesconset, can't get much closer than that! I have lived on Long Island my entire life, previously in Selden. DH lived in Brooklyn until he was about 6 years old and then moved to Selden, where I eventually met him when I was just 15 years old. We are both 60+ so that is a lot of years on Long Island. We will be married 44 years this coming August!

Edited to add: For those of you that are not familiar with the area, Nesconset and Smithtown are neighboring towns, both in the township of Smithtown. BTW, we love it here and we LOVE our chickens!
