Any New Yorkers out there?

I just joined - have the coop pretty much done, going to fence it into a dog run with a wire cover so the hawks don't carry away the girls - getting the chicks this weekend - I'm on LI out near the end of the North Fork....

Well, I'm creeping up on being here for one year! I'm in Western NY just outside of Rochester. Yes it's burr, cold. I can't wait till we get some warm weather.
Welcome everyone!

Hey, fellow New Yorkers,

Well, I'm not a fellow, but I'm a New Yorker!

I'm in Saratoga County, about 20 min north of Albany. Just got my first batch of chicks three weeks ago.

Long Island here ( mount sinai/ port jeff). Had chickens the past 4 years or so in my backyard coop. Nothing extravagant, but functional. Used to work out in mattituck, grew up in plainview....

I'm glad to find out that there are so many chicken farmers nearby. I just received 40+ day old chicks in the mail yesterday. If they all make it to adulthood I'm doomed!! I only have enough space for 12-16! Anyone interested in some freebies in a couple months? I ordered ameraucanas, buff cochins, buff orpingtons, mottled houdans, polish crested and silver phoenix. I'm especially worried about how many roosters I'll end up with. the ameraucanas and orpingtons are supposed to be pullets, but the others were straight run. I don't want to eat any of them! I honestly don't know what I was thinking when I ordered so many, but boy are they cuties.
