Any New Yorkers out there?

I'm a former Long Islander (Lindenhurst, Massapequa Park, and Coram), now living in Dutchess County. My nephew and I just got started, and so far, we love it! We've got 5 Red Sex Links and they just started laying. It's all so new, but so exciting and fun.

I have bantams and quineas. I looking to get some NJ Giants in all colors. I love my new chicken hobby. My husband thinks it's cool seeing how excited I get when I talk about them. They even have names.

New to BYC from Staten Island, NY, the southern most tip of New York! For those who don't know, it's also a borough of NYC. I have been thinking of building a coop and raising chickens. Anyone from Staten Island who can give me some pointers would be appreciated!

I'm on Long Island and started last spring.it can be addicting. Check your local codes for livestock first. Some towns don't alliw fowl. I am in The town of Islip and I am with restrictions but the next town over doesn't allow any.

Morning All,
I'm in East Islip (Long Island), have been doing this for close to 10 years. Dakod this is a great web site. Find an Agway or Tractor Supply. I think there is one very close to you in NJ. You can look at coops there.
There is another thread on here "Dutchess county and Southern NY. A bunch of us go to the poultry show in NJ in May . I think it's in Agusta NJ. It's alot of fun.
Stay warm folks....
