Any Of You Ever lived In A Haunted House?

I haven't really had too many paranormal experiences, which is a little disappointing considering how much I love the paranormal! LOL

I have had dreams that are very very real, but I am usually an animal walking around, rather than myself. I've had a few very realistic dreams where I was a black jaguar and that has led me to believe that that may be my animal totem. I've also had feelings in dreams as if I was flying around as either an owl or a red tailed hawk. Those are some of my favorite dreams!

As far as ghost type stories, the only thing sort of close to that is what happened one night in my bedroom. I'm not one to have nightmares, and I rarely wake up scared from them, but this particular night I woke up with my heart pounding. I kept focusing on this one corner in my bedroom and it just seemed darker than the rest of the room. I felt a great need to leave the room as fast as I could. I ended up getting out of bed and running downstairs and I spent the rest of the night on the couch. When my parents came downstairs and saw me they asked why I was there and I just said I got spooked by something in my room and couldn't go back. The next night everything was back to normal. My house is only about 30 years old, so I don't think it is haunted. The first owner's wife did die, but I think it was of old age and she died in a hospital.

Another time I was outside feeding my animals in the winter and it was pitch black. Our property butts up to a 300 acre cow farm and we have woods in between us and our neighbors. The only light we can see comes from our house or our barn. This one night I went out there and I had the feeling someone was watching me. I looked over into the woods across from our barn and I saw a very big, white spotlight shining through towards the barn. It looked like it was far away, and I could figure out how it was shinging through all of the trees. It was stationary, unlike a flashlight. I have heard that there are hunters who set up tree stands in these woods even though they are not supposed to. Could have been that, but whatever it was it scared the heck out of me and I ended up running to the house as fast as I could carrying a pitchfork. The next morning my dad saw the pitchfork leaning up against the garage and I told him something was in the woods so I carried it for protection

those of you who are saying that their house is too new to be haunted, it not the house thats actually haunted its the land the house sits on. our house is only about 17 yrs old, and there is 1 room that many people in my family have had unusual experiences in, nothing scary just things that turn on and off on their own, or if someone sleeps in it they sometimes might have some very vivid nightmares.

a personal experience that I had, happened when I was very young, about 5 or 6 yrs old. my cousin and I were both very much tomboys, and were absolutely facinated by cowboys. one day our mothers decided to go fishing. we went to this place, that had 2 lakes, a park, several out buildings, and an arena where they regularly held rodeos. there were no events on that day however. while our mothers were fishing we went to play in the park, wich was well within sight of our parents fishing spot.
while we were playing we noticed a pair of cowboy boots, sitting on the step of 1 of the buildings. we picked them up, they looked, felt and smelled like, cowboy boots should. we boosted each other up to look into the door window, and we saw a smoke filled room, with several cowboys playing cards at a table. we decided to hide in the bushes so we could see the owner of the boots when he came out.
5 or 6 yr olds don't wait very well. we got distracted and got to talking I don't know how much time passed, but when we looked again, the boots were gone. we hadn't seen him come out. we didn't know how we could have missed him. we looked back through the window, the room was filled with boxes of junk, clear up to the door. theres no way all those cowboys could have gotten passed us, let alone bring in all those boxes, without our seeing something.
the creepiest part is,

we handled the boots.

This is really hard for me to share this but I will. I have always been very scared to share my paranormal experiences outside my family and friend circle because…well, I get laughed at and accused of being nuts! I am nuts, but not because of this

My house isn't haunted and neither have the others been that I have lived in, but I do live with spirits everyday. I am what some people call a Sensitive. I had never even heard this term till a few months ago. I have always had the ability to see, feel and most recently hear them. I have been able to do this since I was a little girl. The first time I can actually remember feeling a spirit in my presence was when I was 5. My Dad’s Mom, who had died way before I was even born, came to me when I was running a very high fever one day. I felt her enter the room and place a cool hand on my head and I heard a whisper. I couldn’t make out what was said, but I heard it. I asked my mom about it when she came into my room later. She had no idea what I was talking about because she had been in the shower and had not checked on me till then.

Later when we moved to a new house, I refused to stay in the house over night. I would see things in my bedroom and I felt very chilled and uneasy, literally sick to my stomach. I would stay there during the day, but not at night ever.

My family thought I was just making stuff up so I wouldn't have to do things like go to bed, etc, but the stuff I saw and felt was very real but because they made fun of me, I never spoke about it until recently when the activity started up again big time. Through my guide I am learning how to use this gift in a positive way and be able to communicate back instead of just listening and to not be afraid of it.

I…and now my family through me…communicate quite frequently with a spirit named Lucas who loves my chickens and yellow kitchen. He thinks I take very good care of them. He also thinks my son plays too much Xbox and should shower more lol. He thinks my son’s friend should get a haircut but he likes him anyway and likes to watch him skateboard. He is quite possibly my guardian spirit since everyone has at least one. I always thought that these were automatically your family members, but they aren’t most times. My guide thinks I can communicate with him more easily because he is my guardian but it’s still difficult. The cool part is because my guide and I are so connected she can communicate with the spirits around me and help me to hear. My great grandma has come to her, my Mom and my dad.

I have learned to communicate with my Mom recently which has been a huge help since I am still grieving her death last November. We communicate through thoughts and in my dreams. I’m not really sure why in my dreams right now, but we do.

On a more evil and bad note, our home was occupied by a demon which we became aware of this past summer. It is most likely one that has followed me for years (think Paranormal Activity - I couldn't go to see that movie last night with my family because of this). I understand the doubts of demons, but the way it was explained to me that if you believe in God, then you have to believe in demons because they are from Satan. It is very real and yes, very scary. I was attacked in bed one night by it…I felt all 10 of its fingers on the back of my head (very large hands) pushing me into the pillow and when I turned my head, I saw its face. It was a dreamlike state but I was awake. When I started screaming “no, no, no”, it let go of me and everything stopped. I had the red marks on the back of my neck and a very sore spot on my head for a few days.

It has not only been me that has seen this presence, sensed it, been effected by it. It came after my son too. I never said anything to anyone for fear of one scaring my family and two, them thinking I was totally crazy. Last spring, my son was having problems sleeping. He finally went to my guide and told her why. He knew he was not alone in his room. He saw things, he felt things, he felt something touching him, holding him down and he couldn't breathe at times when it did this to him. He also smelled something very unnatural (and it wasn't from him not taking a shower lol). After this came out, the rest of my family started sharing their experiences – shadows, smells, feelings of extreme heaviness, chills, whispers. My guide got involved and has helped us try to rid our home of him. She has talked to him, she has seen him, she has heard him and she knows why he is here – he is after me. Lol that is a pretty chilling thought.

We are not 100% sure we have rid the house of him, but I have cleansed the house by cleaning it and then using cedar and sage a very well known way of dispelling spirits. We also do nightly prayers and we all know how to “get rid” of him if we feel his presence near us. For the past 6 weeks, we haven’t felt him so we are hopeful.

So, there’s my paranormal life

Believe it or not...but it's true.

I am tired!! I spent about 45 minutes reading this thread. and now i have to go try to go to sleep all freaked out!! LOL!!

We built our house five years ago on a three acre orchard. I sometimes wonder if anything happened here. I do hear things......crying babies.....I go and check mine and they are sound sleep. I hear music sometimes. I've heard the front door open and close and no one is there.....I stopped using my baby monitor because even when my son's room was quiet the monitor was picking up sounds and movement. Heard dh call my name and nope wasn't him. I hear a noise nightly in my closet....sounds like the light being turned on and off....but the light is off.

Never have seen anyone or anything. Thank God because i would totally freak out.

I sometimes do smell cigarette smoke....no one here smokes but my mother did for years before she died. I think although a strange way to make her presence known she knows i'll know it's her with the smoke.

Thanks all for such fascinating stories. I love them.

I love this thread! I don't think my house is haunted but my family has had a few experiences.

A few years ago I had gone to bed(at the time I worked night shift and had been up all day) and was almost asleep. I opened my eyes and looked towards the door, there was a tall, dark, headless figure standing there. I keep a pistol in a box under the bed(at the time I was usually home alone) and all I could think of was to get it. I couldn't move. I looked back at the figure and it had moved to the side of my bed. It leaned over and placed his fists on the bed. I still couldn't move. As I was watching it, his head came out of his shoulders. He had very curly blond hair, blue eyes, and was wearing nothing but what looked like boxers, lol. He slowly turned his head and looked me in the eye. I somehow managed to get my fingers to move and tried to at least dig my nails into his hand, which was right next to mine. As soon as I touched him, he disappeared. I was able to move then, I laid there awhile trying to figure out if I was dreaming or if it was real. It just felt too real to be a dream.

Both of my parents passed away a couple of years ago. My daughter said she saw my Dad standing under our pecan trees one night when we came home. My BF says he sees a figure standing in a doorway every time we have a little argument. We think its my Dad too. The night that my Dad passed I came home and the night light in my backyard went off. It had never done it before. It regularly does it now. I say it is him letting me know he's still around. The night my mother died, it was Mothers Day about 1am, all the lights were knocked out in the whole neighborhood. She died at home and my daughter and I were the only ones there. The lights didn't come back on until they pulled into the driveway to pick her up. They were off about 3 hours.
