I live in one now. It was built in 1916 by the family that founded the town. They built a total of seven in the area for all of the decendents. Any how my home is haunted by a little old "grandma" type and a small child of about 6-7 yrs old. My DH said he has seen a tall man with very light blonde hair in our bed room/office suite. I think they are all from the same family because the little child (I think its a boy) also has blonde/white hair. The family who built the house is named Cox...
now get this....our last name is FOX!!!
Kind of creepy some times but I feel they are harmless and know that we love THEIR house.
My aunt lived in a haunted house. Once after cleaning by her front door she found an old tin type photograph of an older couple. She picked it up and put it on her coffee table and later it disappered without a trace.
She also had a baby at the time and he was often seen staring into corners where there was nothing smiling, laughing and waving like someone was playing with him.
I though I saw somthing when I was there once too. I was babysitting for her and vaccuming her livingroom and out of the corner of my eye I saw someone walk into a bedroom down the hall. I turned my head and I am quite sure that I saw a mans leg and shoe going into the room. It might have been because off al the stories that I had heard from my sunt, but you never know!
My friend Rebecca swears she has a ghost, and thinks this ghost is the most awesome thing in the world.
Events:
The smoke alarm did not work, and her husband kept meaning to replace it but never got around to it. Rebecca happened to switch the electric burner on a pan of cooking oil to max rather than off. About four minutes later, the smoke alarm went off and she ran to the kitchen to find the oil in flames. She checked the smoke alarm and discovered that there weren't even any batteries in it.
Normally Rebecca leaves the back door unlocked. She caught sight of her neighbor's drunken teenage son coming into her backyard, and went to lock the door and discovered not only was it already locked, but so were all the windows that opened to the backyard.
More than once she's gone to change the baby and discovered a fresh diaper already laid out on the changing table. Also, the mobile seems to switch itself on whenever the baby gets fussy in his sleep.
There was one time, AGES ago, I was, I think 4 years old, but the story still gets told over and over again by my brother and our cousins. This is in San Jose, California.
We were all sleeping in 1 bedroom at grandma's house. All the adults were sleeping. There was 7 of us, 4 years old (me), 5 years old, two 10 year olds 13 years old, 15 years old and 17 years old. Well, one of my cousins, 10 years old, had to go to the bathroom so he woke my brother up to "BATHROOM BUDDIES". Since the hallway bathroom was under remodeling we had to go to my Grandma's bathroom which is right at the top of the stairs. Just before they opened Grandma's door, my brother saw something at the bottom of the stairs. HE said it was an indian man. BOth boys ran screaming back into the bedroom and woke everyone up (surprisely not the adults). Well, we all went to check it out. There was nothing there though, Then my 15 year old cousin turned around and next to the bathroom door was an "Old Man 49er" standing there with NO HEAD!
That was enough to wake Grandma and Grandpa up but still our parents SLEPT!
Grandpa told us that the house was built ontop of an Indian Celementary and there was a story about a family situation between a white family and an indian family which got deadly. A father, a 49er Mine Digger, was be-headed by the father of the indian family.
None of us, EVEN TODAY, will NOT walk the hallways, stair or anywhere ALONE!

I was rather disappointed that nothing happened during the week I stayed with her.
Le sigh...
I have been in many placed that are said to be haunted, but never witnessed anything supernatural except my friend Jim's uncanny ability to start singing the song that the radio is playing before turning the radio on.
When my little sister was asked if she was afraid of ghosts (she was about 6 or so at the time), she replied 'nah, ghosts and monsters are way to scared of my big sister to haunt us'.
we have LOUD noises of things falling (nothing ever out of place).
dog and cat plays with orbs that have been photographed.
hear children's voices, even people that stay the night that know nothing about it say that they hear them.
I have talked to the neighbors that lived here for 50 years and there has been aa couple kids locked in the attic and died in our house and a couple suicides of people that lived here, but the suicides didn't take place in the house.
I myself havnt' seen them, but I photographed 5 orbs in the attic by the bathroom where they mostly appear and since day one that attic has given me the creeps.
I have started a collection of orb photographs on my computer and will attach one that buddy is playing with (I thought he was just being silly).
I figure that if the dog and cat plays with them they are harmless though.
