Any Of You Ever lived In A Haunted House?

Ours did morning chores once for a short period right after we fixed up the barn. I guess he approved of the newly built stalls and the fact that the barn was housing animals again.

The house I live in now was called the haunted house by all the nieghbor kids but I figured it was because it was falling to pieces when we bought it. We fixed it up and it's beautiful now but we still hear strange noises all the time like someone getting up from a chair when nobody is anywhere near or footsteps upstairs when I'm home alone and once in awhile something will come crashing down upstairs when no one is up there (wish I had a cat or an open window to blame).
When my son has had friends overnight I've teased them about being nice to the ghost since she (I called her Doris) is pretty considerate of us most of the time, but they look at me and tell me it's not funny because they have heard her making a lot of noise late at night and she walks down the hall and stops right outside their bedroom door. I laugh and tell them it's probably just my husband or I listening in to see if they are behaving themselves. They swear they can hear us still talking downstairs!
I was visiting with the next door neighbor and telling her how I was having a blast, scaring the kids half to death with my "Doris stories" and she looked at me seriously and said "Why do you call her Doris?". I told her it was because the stuff that happens seems so harmless that it was more like something a female ghost would do (checking on the kids, watching us from a chair) and that it was more believable for the older teenagers that visit. She said, "Her name is Julie and she was killed by her husband about 10 years ago in your house!"
She was apparantly found in the upstairs bathtub and, although the police ruled it a suicide, the neighbors said they know it was the husband because the blood was all over the bathroom and he was having an affair with a woman that he moved into the house 4 days after his wife was found dead and he had been very abusive the last 2 years, threatening to kill her many times.
I'm not so sure the ghost stories are so funny anymore...

Still at least she is a friendly ghost.

Want as many hunted experiences as you can IMAGION?! Go visit St. Augustine, Florida. YOu will not leave unsatified!
The deaf school is located in St. Augustine and we had PLENTY of experiences there. There is a boy on the 2nd story balcony of the library that we can see walking around (the 2nd story wasnt used but you can see everything from the first floor. IT was said that the boy hung himself there.
There are many more but hard to list them all.

My son had a friend over who refused to sleep over. I had not discussed 'the ghost' with any other family members. I didn't want them to think that I was nuts.

Anyway, I found my son's friend downstairs watching tv. I asked him what was wrong and he said that he couldn't sleep. He was 15 and I felt odd telling him to go to bed so I left him.

I found out from my son that his friend(who was a football player) was scared of the ghost and would never spend the night again.

I have no idea what that boy saw or heard but it must have freaked him out.

My relator in Iowa told me that state law was that you had to tell the buyer if someone had died in the house. She told me that as far as she knew, no one had died there, but the house was 111 years old.

I wonder why other states don't have that law.

I did when I was younger...

My youngest son tells me hes scared of his closet and tells me mommy a man a man and points towards his room. When my oldest son was about his age I would hear him playing in his closet and then say 'Bye! Bye!'

Our ghosts are also protective and and some what unobtrusive. Sometimes things are rearranged in my kitchen cupboards, sometimes a pot handle turned on the stove. I have seen the little boy shutting the back yard gate. I think they are happy to have some one here that loves their house as much as they did and truely care about the farm. I would however like to know why they are still here.
