I have 3 peafowl in a run with some polish lace youngsters. I have an 250 watt red heat lamp bullb ( for lack of a better description) that is set to come on at 10pm and off at 5pm.
I'm hoping the timer will keep the costs down. I live in upstate SC, the temps get down to the 30-40 at night. I have the run set up so they can have heat or not have heat. Either options keeps them dry.
