Any one want to join me in waiting for eggs, posting and comparing notes?

Well, my friends, I may or may not be able to keep up with the thread while I'm gone, but I will check in as often as I can. I'll be gone for two weeks and I will miss my chickies and my chickie friends.....but I will be in Paris, so no crying...LOL

For those of you still in foul weather....I am so sorry. It is awful to have spring fever but no spring!

Later!

Okay, so all my girls are 22 weeks old and today I got 6 eggs our of 5 hens - how is that possible? LOL! I think I can be certain that as of this weekend, ALL of them are laying and my EE is double-timing it today as I got one greenish/blue one early a.m. and another this afternoon.

So, my question is, out of the brown eggs, who would be laying the lighter brown and who would be laying the darker brown???
I have 2 Barred Plymouth Rocks and 1 Production Red - it seems like I get more of the really light brown so I am thinking it's the BR's and I have only got 2 of the darker brown so thinking those might be the Red? Hmm....

Oh I can't believe you asked this,, I was just thinking today i should take a picture of my barred rock eggs. I caught both of them laying today while I was raking up around the coop, so I know exactly who laid them. Betta my one BR lays the very long oval egg. Kate's egg is rounder more classic shape. BOTH Barred Rocks of mine lay very light creamy tan egg. My production reds lay a very dark egg, one of them even puts specks on them like a welsummers egg. So, even though there can be quite a difference between egg shades across the same breed, I would bet dollars to donuts that your light egg is from your barred rocks, and the darker one is from your production reds.

PS,, a treat for your over ambitious EE is in order! Was the second EE egg lighter shade?

So far out of 9 hens, all the same age, only 1of my EE is laying. Liz Taylor layer one on the19th- 23rd and 24th. Three eggs in 6 days, they are very small so far. But delicious! Had them for breakfast this morning. My egg skelter is empty!! Please lay girls. Have a good evening

My dear Knobby, I am so sorry I forgot to give you the ol.....

That IS the greatest feeling when you get the most eggs you can get in one day! Did you give the girls a special treat? Now, the next milestone will be when you get two 8 egg days in a row!

Nothing like that feeling!!

So happy for you love!

Thank you! What? Another milestone? Cool.

Hello all - feel like I was having withdrawals not being able to check in here.

So many of you really gave me the boost of confidence I needed as it relates
to my meaties. Thank you so much. They are hanging in there and doing chick stuff.
I am purposely not getting attached. Just giving them what they need at this point.

My EE has layed two eggs but no more. She is acting just fine, so I'm thinking
She's just getting everything fine tuned. My BA and RIR are following through
almost daily.

Spent all day yesterday in the yard cleaning up, picking more weeds and watching
our girls running around. Was BLISS. Sending warm wishes to all going through
yet another cold spell.

OH and have a Great Time in Paris Xshoshin - can't wait to see photos when you
return.
