Any one want to join me in waiting for eggs, posting and comparing notes?

Hi everyone!

I FINALLY got our computer fixed! I am so happy as the only way I have been able to check in was on my phone, and it was so hard to see that screen so small and also my old eyes just don't do well with little print any more! So happy to read about everyones eggs, or soon to be eggs, and girls coming of age. We are heading to terrible temps here and I have to try and check several times a day to make sure they aren't frozen solid! Out of the 27 pullets on my property, only 7 are laying. Not like gangbusters mind you, but enough for me and hubby to have 2 eggs with breakfast most mornings. Look at this cool egg that one of my Olive Eggers laid. Very neat...

Stay warm to those of us in the line of this cold snap.....Soooo colllld.

What a cool looking egg!! Seems like you have created quite the unique flock! What is an olive egger? Would love some pics of this flock!

When I joined this group I was waiting (and still am) for my 10 week old Golden Comet, Lola to lay as well as my 18 week old Barred Rock Fifi. But we got Iggy, a beautiful adult Amerecauna who is about 8 months and already laying. Well the transition for Iggy was very tough, she wanted to get OUT!! She was flying over the fence and running around the yard as if saying "where's the farm I came from? where am I?" With help from these forums, I clipped her wings and didn't let her free range for a few days. That was all it took. She free ranges every day now and doesn't attempt to fly. It's been just two weeks and she has started laying for us! Almost every day this week! She started last Monday and gave us 7 eggs since then. (today is Tuesday). It's like christmas morning over here every morning!!!! We are city slickers in Miami and I'm so happy she has adjusted and seems happy!! And is giving us beautiful blue/green eggs!!! It's so joyous! Happy New Year!!!

I'm glad to hear about your Easter Egger, sounds like she is a great layer! It is so nice to have this website with helpful hints and available support, isn't it? I enjoy reading people's stories and methods and finding new things to try with my chickens. And it's always great when you get good results, so I'm glad your new girl is happy at her new home now.
