Any one want to join me in waiting for eggs, posting and comparing notes?

I read these posts and sometimes think you guys are magical...
How in the world do you know which hen laid which egg????? I'm sure I'll know when the ameracauna lays, but all my other hens are brown egg layers. Please share your magical knowledge...my girls are just past 4 months and I'll be needing to know soon. And tell me about the egg song!
I know with my girls I can tell by the shape and the color. But it does require you to check the box often to find out who is laying which color. Some of mine also has distinct differences in shape. Some long and skinny while others are more like golf balls.

I'm not one of the magicals on here.

The egg song is the funniest -
go to youtube and type in chicken egg song. My bird was doing it
over and over for almost half an hour last Sunday. I have never heard it before
and had no idea it was so loud. The chicks are usually pretty quiet.
Good thing I wasn't trying to hide having chickens because there is
no way to hide it now with my girl.
I agree with you! When mine first started laying the first layers were real quiet then a couple of the mine were very vocal and everyone was joining in. Now after a month and a half of laying the seemed to have toned it down some!

Hey hey guys, I forgot to tell you I got my first 9 egg day yesterday!!!
Adele finally laid an egg, it was the smallest egg yet, so teeny tiny. I found one on the floor outside the coop on the floor I. The dirt. I was gone all day and this is what I came home to! Dirty eggs, but was so happy every girl laid an egg!

Now you get to be disappointed every time you go out and don't get 9. LOL.

Best egg week so far for our girls this week. 4 out of 7 days we got ten eggs! 66 eggs total for the week!

Also I will have some fodder pics within the next couple of days. It seems to be working really well and when I get it perfected I will give you guys all the details.

Love the colors... wow. I want more EE or Amercaunas... That dark green on the bottom is stunning. My eggs seem so pale in comparison.... And kind of grayish... Is there anything we can do for the colors to be stronger? I know that as they continue to lay the color gets lighter... Or is that something that happens after they molt for the first time...?
Not all of my eggs are this colorful. I picked out the prettiest ones for the photo. There's really nothing at all you can do about egg color in a particular chicken. The color on mine vary a little bit day to day. I try to breed for color, since that's my primary interest...having a colorful egg basket. But that can be tricky with EEs, since you don't really know what kind of egg genes an EE roo is carrying.

Do you want to know something: all eggs are a brown or any other color execpt white. then your asking : How do you know ? Well i know because one day i took some eggs out of the catron them we read online that if you put vinger in the pot when you take them out it will easier to peal . NO it does not the eggs turn white it makes it harder to peal too. that's probly how eggs are white in stores! SO DON'T DO THAT!

Oh my Heavens Brooster, they are stupendous!! I ADORE them. I must get me some of those for my next flock. Where did you get your EE's from if you don't mind me asking? Can you sell me some of those hatching eggs if I ever get up the nerve to try and incubate some? Also, I've been meaning to ask what kind of incubator you use. Now we are going to have our own little "Egg waiting group hatch a long with Brooster" thread! You HAVE to keep daily updates on this hatch, we can wait along with ya!

I would be happy to sell you some hatching eggs any time! It would be fun to watch someone else hatch my girls' eggs! I use a Brinsea. I highly recommend it. I also have a Hovabator, which I don't use as much. My EEs came from multiple places. Some are a mix of chickens I hatched myself, combining my Ameraucanas with other birds, and some were adopted from another farmer. I have no idea where she got them originally, but I imagine they're hatchery stock. She kept insisting they were Ameraucanas, and since she was giving up chickens, I didn't feel the need to get into the whole EE versus Ameraucana argument. I love having EEs. I find them to be far more entertaining than raising a flock of straight pure Ameraucanas. But the way pretty much EVERY hatchery and feed store mislabels the chicks really bugs me a lot.

I'll keep you updated on my hatch. These chicks are for selling, but I may keep 2 or 3 of them. I'm really curious to see the mix between Kenny Rogers and my Blue Ameraucanas.

66 eggs! Wow! That is awesome. What on earth do you do with all the eggs?

I know what you mean Kelly. I had no idea that it would be so relaxing to just sit out there and ... be... I love it. So glad that others out there understand;) Even my Mom has gotten into it. She hated chicken when she was a child and did not like the idea of chickens at all. Now .... what a difference. She loves just sitting out there and watching them, feeding them treats and petting them as well. Who Knew? I find them way more relaxing then when I had fish...;)

OK... I have to try this... I have made an account with Youtube... lets see if if works... This should be video of my Matilda laying one of her many blue eggs.

......
Catsol, that is a great video! I love her intensity! How on earth did you capture that footage? My girls hate being watched when they're laying. If I walk anywhere near the nesting boxes when they're in the act, they make the craziest noises. One of them actually growls. It the weirdest noise. Maybe I need to get that on film.

Red! Happy once again to see a post from you! Yes, I was thinking the same thing, wonder when the next 9 egg day will be. please do share that fodder information, I am very interested.

Cat, LOVE the video, it is just super. What a pretty girl, and the look on her face was priceless!

Xshoshin, I love the picture of your girls on the patio. I laughed out loud when I saw it, we are all so nutty about our chickens! They actually look like relatives that are coming for Sunday dinner. What a hoot. Welcome to the thread, Don't worry about the egg song, not all of them do it, 4 of my 9 girls like to sing about their accomplishments, but the other's are all pretty stealthy about laying. I sometimes only know they've laid because i happened to look out into the coop just as they were headind down the ramp.

Knobby, Keep us posted as to if you get another egg today. You are going to see how they all just start picking up now. I had one egg for the first 4 days, same color and shape, day 5 came two eggs, and then by day 11, I had three. I am very interested to hear about how your eggs differ, as you have all the same breed. I have 2 each of 4 different breeds, and then the single breed is a Wyandotte, easy to tell her egg. I am excited to see the hue differences in your eggs.

LoveChickens123, Welcome to the egg waiting thread, hmm... not quite sure about the vinegar thing, Happy to have you, this is a great group to tell about your chickens, eggs, or lack there of! How many chickens do you have?

Have a great day everyone!
