Any one want to join me in waiting for eggs, posting and comparing notes?

Gosh I wish I knew.... How exciting! I think I heard that once they hatch, they never return to where they were nesting, so maybe that might help you figure it out.. I have often wondered the same thing. I also think moving her now would be better than when she is closer to hatch. How many eggs are under her?

Sorry, wish I could be more help,,, Brooster might have some input... let us know!

MB
She is on 6 eggs.

So much news! I've been reading the last half a dozen pages and I've miss so much! My condolences to those with bad news....I actually missed my hens while I was gone...who would have thought? And I also had to rehome a rooster so I know that pain. And so many new chickies and eggs! It makes me itch to hatch some babies, but really, 5 hens is all I have room for. I do a lot of living vicariously through y'all!

And for those with meaties...this made me laugh out loud so I have to share it

Man this last week my girls have been so LOUD! They all think they have to sing the egg song when anyone of them lays an egg or just because. Yesterday I got 6 eggs which is only the second time they have laid that many in one day. I have yet to get the elusive 7/7 egg day. They seem to think that 4 or 5 egg days are fine. Even with them only laying 4 or 5 eggs per day I have already gotten last years month egg total(+1) yesterday . Last year in April I got 52 eggs this year by the 13th I am at 53 eggs. I didn't think just 2 more chickens would make THAT much of an impact on egg counts.

I have been sick these last two weeks so I haven't been on here much. I am sorry to hear about lost chicks and MB's poison ivy but that's great news about Duke.

Happy late birthdays and Congrats on the new eggs!!

So far so good, 5 of my 8 hens are laying. And my 2 EE were the first to lay then the SLW and 1NH, the 3 holdouts are my BO and 1more NH. I told my DH the that the BO would probably lay first boy was I wrong.lol

nakstk,
Mine do the same thing, even the rooster sings and he's louder than the hens are. What a racket some times.

I don't remember my girls being this loud last year. I have heard many people say that Wellies are the loudest chickens they have owned.I am finding that to be true. I think my SS are trying to compete with my Wellies. lol

That just made me laugh out loud. My meaties are growing by leaps and bounds. This is week 3 and they got their first experience of outside today.
They have a "playpen" of sorts. (pen previously used for puppies) Even with all the extra room, there is not much "playing" going on. They just seem
to sit by the feeder and every once in a while walk to the water and lay down again before returning to the feeder. This is a completely different breed
of chicken than I am used to. It's so amazing to see the differences in each breed. Will be weighing them after they spend the day outside hoping
they fill their belly with bugs and green grass also.

nakstk,

So sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well, I too have been down and out, but thankfully today is the first day that the poison ivy seems to be pulliing back, I took a good oatmeal soak tonight and gently scrubbed the dead skin away. It really took me for a loop. Here is to both of us rebounding this week! I wish we could all wake up and have it be Tuesday morning, I HATE APRIL 15th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love hearing what others name their chickens--- Yesterday Clara, barred rock aggressor 2, pecked an injury to Liza, again, blood, etc. So, she goes to her new home tomorrow. I hate losing her and will miss 4 eggs a day, but i've tried it all and she just doesn't stop. She's isolated again in the barn although this morning she's free ranging alone much to the dismay of the others, but they all hate her and constantly pick at her too so i've decided she's the problem and needs to go. I hope Clemi, aggressor 1 doesn't turn against Liza once Clara is gone. Ohy vey these birds. I'm also still dealing with my sick dog who has caused me much concern -- really hating these days, and what's with this weather. ? more torrential rain for us this week and we haven't dried out from the last soaking. :(
