Any PC Geeks? Clock Problems...

I just tried it. Didn't get any error messages, but only time will tell (no pun intended) whether it worked or not. It's usually several hours after I fix the time that I notice the clock slows down, so I'll have to pay attention tomorrow and see if it keeps time. I sure hope so because that was super easy. I'll post an update tomorrow when I've had a chance to see if it's worked. Thank you so much!

And yes, my rooster should be crowing within the hour.

Time has been normal ever since that night I tried it. I'll still keep the battery in mind, and will try that if the clock goes wrong again, but so far that simple fix seems to have done the trick! Thank you AngelzFyre!

Syncing with the internet time server was what messed mine up constantly. I UN-checked the little box that tells it to use internet time, and it's been within a few minutes ever since. Glad you got yours reset though.
I somehow got our atomic wall clock on the wrong time zone last time the batteries went out. I would set it right, and it would automatically "update" itself to the other time zone later in the day. It took me a few days to figure out what was going on, I thought it might have just lost it's marbles.

There is a little flat watch battery on your motherboard that keeps up with the time when the PC is shut down, it also controls passwords that are used on the BIOS system and stuff like that before the PC comes on. I had an old computer that we somehow password locked ourselves out of the BIOS therefore it wouldn't boot up without the password. To get in I had to remove the battery for a few minutes to make it "forget" about the password. Love old computers with quirks like that (totally sarcastic there!)
