No as long as the Tom is not a Broad Breast. He will be able to breed you BBW hens. Reason I would us a Royal Palm is for the white color.
All Broad Breast Tom get to large to breed hens.

Good point... guess I forgot that detail!
Even so, these girls of mine are pretty good sized, and I'm beginning to wonder if their weight is making them act like arthritic old ladies. I think their days are numbered
