Any Rabbit Breeders/Owners Here at BYC?

Pics
I knew you had good taste. :)
I watched the movie a couple years ago. I didn't like it. It was very depressing. Maybe the book is better though.
I remember watching the movie as a kid. It wasn't my favorite. There are way more details in the novel. The Netflix series I also couldn't make it through. lol I mean overall there are some fairly dark parts in the novel, specifically involving the warren Strawberry came from and Efrafra and General Woundwort. But it's just much better.
Is it any good?
It is indeed. Plus there are tons of amazing bunny names. :)

I figured there was a lot more to the book. I'm going to have to read it.

Questions:
1) How many rabbits do you own? We have 2

2) How long have you had rabbits? Or Rabbit? Brand new owners, just got them in August

3) What's your top favorite breed? I don't have a favorite, but my husband wants to get into New Zealands

4) Why did you get your rabbit(s)? My granddaughter has asked for a pet rabbit that she can't keep at home

5) (If you breed (or have bred in the past) Why did you start (or stop) breeding rabbits?

6) What's your rabbit(s) name(s)? Snickers (tan one) and Bandit (black one)

7) What breed(s) are/is your rabbit(s)? Snicker is a Rex/New Zealand mix and Bandit we have no idea. She looks like a Netherland Dwarf.

8) Why did you choose the breed you did? My friend had these available

Also Bandit is very stand-offish. She does not like to be held and will do everything she can to keep you from picking her up. She will even growl. Both bunnies were 4 weeks old when we got them. Any ideas is greatly appreciated!
They are precious!

Bandit looks like a Netherland Dwarf to me too. My favorite breed 🥰

Most rabbits do not enjoy being picked up. Since they are prey, they often think they are about to be eaten by a hawk when they are off the ground. So its best if they stay on solid ground where they are most comfortable.

To earn their trust, sit or lay on the ground with them and offer small treats or pellets. Don't try to pet them or pick them up, and let them come to you. Do this as often as possible, and eventually they'll become bonded to you.

4 weeks old is very young. They should really be with their mom and siblings until at least i weeks old. Though Netherland dwarfs are smaller so they can leave as early as 6 or 7 weeks old, though its always best to wait later so they are fully weaned and eating solids well.

One thing I will recommend with them, especially since they are so young, is not giving so many carrots. Many people think carrots are a large part of ther diet, but they are really high in sugar and should only be given as a small treat every now and then. Young rabbits should be slowly introduced to treats such as carrots, apple, banana, pther fruit, herbs, and leafy greens.

Good luck with them, rabbits are amazing pets!

I have a mini Rex named Rabbit Downey Jr(goes by Junior) and a gray lop named the Lopness Monster and goes by Lopy, you can blame my daughters for their names as they also have chickens Henith Paltrow and Salmon Ella
