Darn, I just did a search at my branch of the public library (I love the internet - it gives new meaning to let your fingers do the walking) and they don't have any of those Nelson Demille books in right now and the Robert McCammon "Swan Song" is on order and already has a request on it.

I might check to see what other branches have the Demille books in and travel out of my neighbourhood - something I try not to do very often.

I may have to use up some of my precious 20 remaining free book requests for this year. I sure hope these books are worth it, beak.

"Edgar Sawtelle" --- incredible dogs, mystery, kind of 'supernatural
-- main character is a teen-age boy --
but, be ready, once I started it I found it totally engrossing --
an amazing 'first novel' by this author --

I love them. I have read all his books but those are the best.

Another great book totally different genre is Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. Follett usually writes WWII spy books but this is about a stone mason in the 7th century that becomes a cathedral builder. Includes a lot of Church politics and is more or less historically accurate. Gives a great perspective on the way people lived then.

Swan Song is a lot like the Stand.

James Patterson is good too. His Alex Cross series is great. His writing style is a little simple sometimes. Not too many compound sentences, but great stories.

John Sanford has a great character series too. Lucas Davenport is a cop in the Twin Cities. Great character.

I do a lot of reading. That's why I have a comfy toilet.

I personally love to read sci fi and mysteries my favorite sci fi author is Larry Niven,
and my favorite mystery series is Judy Bolton it was written in the '30's but they are fun.

Almost all of Jodi Picoult's books are great to me and I read the same type of books that you do. My other favorite author is Koontz, but you said you already read his books. He has a lot more and a lot of his books have dogs in them, particularly very smart golden retrievers.

And even though I'm no teen (I just turned 35) I loved the Twilight and Harry Potter books if you have not read them.
