We love to RV and love the outdoors. We own a Jayco Kiwi 18' TT, we live in IL and have been to Kankakee State Park, IL, Indiana Dunes, South Dakota, Starved Rock state park in UTICA IL, Shabbona State Park, IL, and many more. We would love to hear your RV tips, where you have been and what you RV in.

In 2007 we bought a brand new 27' Salem (http://www.crossroadstrailers.com/database/inventory_item.asp?id=496775). This isn't the place we bought it from, it just had nice pics. Ever since 2007, we've gone to Myrtle Beach at www.oceanlakes.com. We're actually thinking of getting a bigger camper!

I used to love camping. We had dirt bikes and we would take the dogs. What fun then Katrina hit. LOL ! Camped for a straight 18 months. Had a really nice 30' camper. For a while everyone here was camping.

I was just thinking about starting a thread similar to this one yesterday!! I was doing my spring cleaning in our camper. Our first trip is this weekend. My DS graduates the 8th grade the 29 of this month. So we agreed to take him and a buddy camping for the three day weekend.

We have a 2001 26ft(I think!) fifth wheel camper. It is a Prowler Northwest Edition so it works great for Montana! There will surely be snow where we are going this weekend. We bought this used 2 years ago and got an incredible deal on it. It is still just like brand new. It has a what they call a super slide. So the table and couch area open up for a big roomy feeling.

We haven't taken it on any far away trips really. Just places here in Montana. Right after we bought it though we lived in it for about 5 weeks. DS was involved in an accident that kept him in the hospital for 5 weeks. The hospital is an hour away from home so we "camped" in the hospital parking lot! It was a blessing that we had this camper.

We love to camp and go every chance we get. Camping season is fairly short around here though!

newchickenfamily my SIL and her family bought a tent trailer last summer. They really like it except for last July we went way up in the Mountains, the camp host walked by and said there was a bear in the area and the night before he had been seen in the camp spot they were in!! All of a sudden she wanted her and the 3 kids to sleep in my camper!!

We have a 30 ft gulf stream we love it once you have one and try to go bk its hard you get used to the storage and the comfort. We have been all over the USA we drove from On Canada to texas. But we just moved to 20 acres and now the ex flys the kids to texas so we realy dont use it anymore. So we decided to sell it since we are now living on our vaction spot. We will probably take it for one more trip. We have a 15 yr old 10 and 9 yr old the 15 yr old could careless about camping. The down side of a rv is if you dont tow a car you have to drive that big thing around and try to find parking which is a huge pain. I am sure we will miss it we re thinking of going with a tow behind but not for sure. We also have a pop up with slide outs and I LOVE IT but the no bathroom thing does not work well for me LOL. Some of our best times have been camping as a family but with all the animals I have now I just cant go away for long trips. I am sure we will get a rv again when the kids are grown. Good Luck enjoy the great outdoors

Yep, can't say that I blame her! We don't normally camp where bears are, so I never worry about that!

What I thought was funny is that she didn't ask if her husband could sleep in our camper, just her and the kids!!

we have an old camper....It's an early 1970's model....35 footer....We have it set up on the back of our property where we have made a 'park'....nature trails, picnic area, campfire area, the whole thing...our next project is to make some sort of pond (we do have the swamp back there)....

We pull the camper 1 time a year...We go to Rock Fest in Cadott, WI every year...That is the one and only time we pull the camper... We do try and go camping over the 4th of July, but we take our tents then. I love having our camper....(I enjoy tenting it better, but that's another story...lol)....WE have lots of gatherings here during the summer with our firepit (not the one by the campers)....And usually every weekend or so, something is going on...always entertaining people...lol
ANyway 2 years ago my girlfriend and I worked on my camper...Hubby had no idea what we were up to....But we bought the shelf liner stuff and put that up in the bathroom and kitchen and then the peel and stick tiles and re did the bathroom and kitchen floor...Just those 2 things made a HUGE difference on how the inside looked...Even though the bathroom only took 5 tiles to do the whole floor (probably would of been closer to 3 if I hadn't cut wrong..lol) After we were done I showed hubby and he said it made a HUGE difference, almost didn't look like the same camper inside...This year my plan is to repaint the bedroom walls in there and possibly do something different to the walls in the livingroom area..right now they are the brown panelling...And then next year rip out the carpet in the livingroom and bedroom and use more peel and stick tiles in those areas....Makes sweeping alot easier and I don't have to vaccum it out after we are done at Rock Fest...lol
Our camper may not be the prettiest, but it works....lol I think I would be to afraid of having a new one---for fear of it getting dirty...

We've never done an RV trip but have been thinking about it as we've never been to the Pacific Northwest and have thought it would be a lot of fun to drive up the coast in a motor home.

Does anyone know if it's possible to rent one of those really nice ones?
