Any scents that might deter coons, skunks, possums?

Garlic, egg, hot sauce in a blender with water, spray on what you want to protect......Or moth balls around ornamentals (but not where your birds can get it ....my ducks ate some one day, but were ok....

Or just garlic in a big container from Sams or costco and sprinkle and onion peels, etc.....

My DH took one of those sprayers that you would use to spread herbicides with (the pump sprayer kind found at any local hardware store)....put it in the bathroom.

Encouraged my two DS's (then age 5 and 8) to use the sprayer instead of the toilet. No problem there - they thought it was rather interesting experiment! Labeled the sprayer, 'Human', in Sharpie marker on side...as opposed to 'Herbicide' sprayer. Yes, he bought two identical ones.

When 'full enough' DH used outside to deter groundhogs who were living underneath neighbor's shed on the property line (and making DH mad by eating our produce!). Neighbor is a very kindly 80+yr old gentleman, who's got enough going on with his dear wife's heath issues to NOT have to deal with this too....so with his blessing, we proceeded to 'encourage voluntary rehoming' of said groundhog.

DH sprayed the bejeebers out of that shed. To this day, 4yrs later, our dog smells that part of the property line and looks back at DH as if to say, 'you been here?!'.

Groundhog left that night. Don't know to where...but left immediately.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS OPTION! It does work.

The farmer up the road used ground cyan paper and a mix of other hot stuff. The coon came up once, took one wiff, and never came back, or so he said.
I really have no idea, but thats the only thing I can really think of.

OH! My sister's mother in law used to go to town when the circus came through. She would ask for all the straw and droppings out of the lions cages. I guess it kept all the little bunnies out of her garden.

EW. I'm not sure I'd want to mess with the lion stuff.

Even before I had dogs, I put mothballs under a shed to chase away skunks...works great.

I use my dogs but I have clients (I am a dog groomer) who come in the spring and want me to bag up the cut off dog hair for them to place around the edges of their gardens to keep wild animals out. They swear by it.

these are all great for protecting your flock and keeping the unwanteds at bay, we have four dogs and the only thing that comes in the yard is a rabbit that enjoys the chickens company.
