It’s very cold here today temperature of 3 feels like -10. I went out to do my chores with the ducks and chickens this evening and saw one of my duck laying on her back in the duck house. When I open the door she got up but I don’t know why she would be laying on her back especially on such a cold day. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Hi.

Does she look and sound fine to you?

If so : she probably had just fallen on her back because of her - or her friends' - clumsiness.
It can happen sometimes...

If your girl looked to have been lying on her back for a while, my guess is that she had difficulties getting back on her feet UNTIL she saw you : she probably was so scared seeing you close to her that she succeeded getting back on her feet by herself.

Do monitor her - just in case -, but don't worry too much for now.

► And if ever you see ducks that are lying on their back, get them on their feet AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!
