I really enjoy cleaning skulls, a bit out there but whatever. The anatomy is fascnating! Any other collectors out there want to share so photos/talk process?

My process is: put the bones outside in a wire rabbit cage so they don't "walk off", let nature take care of 90% of the job, then scrub and soak in a 40% peroxide bath. Then I reconstruct if necessary and tag them with collection info.

I'll start with an Embden gander I cleaned last fall, shown with a goose egg.

I don't... but do think some of the rooster heads we cut off would look really amazing if they were preserved. :)

And I'm always curious when I do find a skeleton as to what it may be and what happened to it. :pop

Have you ever heard of dermestid? This would be really cool to play with, apparently it's a flesh eating beetle. :eek:http://www.rainbowmealworms.net/dermestid-beetle-larvae/
