I have a pair of chukars, and I feed them using a gravity feeder made for rabbits. It is sort of a gravity trough style. They eat right out of it, but for some reason they tend to cause all of the feed to go from inside the feeder to all over the place. Not sure if they're kicking it out or using their beaks. This is not just from spilling as they eat, they are doing it somehow on purpose. I will fill up the feeder all the way, and the pan it sits in (cause they make a mess of their food) will be clean, and the NEXT DAY all of the food from the feeder will have been kicked out of it and spread throughout the pan.
Do any of you have any suggestions of different feeder styles that may mitigate this issue? I am switching their cage soon to a wire floor coop I will keep outdoors, and don't want all the feed spread over the dirt....
Thanks
