I would highly recommend using the Homeopathic remedy Agaricus Muscarius in a potency 30c. I've used it several times on my girls and especially my F.B.C. Maran Roo (and myself!). Take a plastic throw away container or cup, add water and put 1 pellet in, let dissolve. Give a dose to them as needed or put in a bowl and let them dose themselves (esp if not tame). I dose mine a minimum of 2 times a day or more (esp. if really bad or extremely low temps). I continue to dose them til it's gone and then I give an extra dose to be sure.

Make sure to have regular fresh water available if you decide to provide a bowl of Agaricus.
Do not use a container that you will use for other food uses- if you do you will be administering the remedy to yourself. (Even if you wash it)
If you accidentally spill it- you just got a dose of the remedy.
You can overdose them so be careful and aware of the animal your treating. If animal starts getting better and then gets worse it's probably overdosed. Stop remedy, watch it get better and ONLY treat again WHEN it gets worse again.

I've had the "fingers" on my roo's comb start out visibly black and have gotten it to heal completely.

The bag balm tip for combs and waddles on this thread is much appreciated. My two roosters made it through this terrible weather with just a little frost bite. One of the roosters had ice on the bottom of his waddle (probably from drinking water) and I had to hold him and warm his waddle with my hand for 10 minutes to melt ice and warm the area. Then I came in and read this great thread and covered combs and waddles with bag balm. No additional signs of frostbite today. Thanks for advice.

Yes, please! I was just trying to picture that in my mind and was going to ask if you could post a picture.

No, Agaricus Muscarius is not a prescription, it's a Homeopathic Remedy. Some health food stores may carry it local to you, just call & ask. abchomeopathy.com is one site you can order it online for @ $10 or less. I like using Homeopathics alot as I don't have to worry about not eating eggs when I worm or what could potentially be absorbed by the hen and later I could be consuming.
