Any thoughts on whether duck or drake?

We have a small flock and recently hatched 1 Swedish Blue and 1 Buff Orpington...

They are now 4 weeks old, the Swedish blue is starting to quack so we think is most likely a female.

However, having not had any experience with buff orpingtons before we aren't sure about him/her.

Any thoughts?

Ideally we want to keep them both, but we only have 4 other ducks (2 pekins - 1 male, 1 female; 2 Swedish blue - both femals)

The best way is to tell by sound. Otherwise, you can't tell till they get their adult feathers in. They should have their voice change by 9 weeks. Some ducks are quiet and hard to get them to speak. Hopefully the buff will let you know soon. They are adorable ducks

Well... the 'babies' have well and truly grown and...

The buff orpington is a drake and the Swedish blue is a duck!

Since the last post we have also added an apricot and white call duck to our flock (both ducks)

They are all beautiful! I love the colors of the blue swedish.
