Any truth to keeping just one breed?

Thanks, cmom. For the most part, the breeds I got were similar in size and temperament. The exceptions were the two California whites that I got at the insistence of my daughter who wanted white eggs since her mother only buys them at Easter!

Anyhow, the California whites were the first to go, rehomed to a neighbor, because they were just two flighty and were picking terribly. Unfortunately, this is a very hard habit to break because the rest then picked up on it.

Anyhow, not that I am down to eight chickens, maybe seven if the other doesn't make it, after the neighbor's dog attacked, I am going to get four more. There aren't a lot of options left this late in the season so I think I will get a couple of partridge rocks and a couple red sex-links. I really wanted more of the speckled sussex, but they are gone, gone, gone!
