Any way to check if the eggs are still good?

I got about two dozen eggs from my mom to test my incubator, they are all in a clothes basket and I can smell that a couple of them are NOT good. Is there any way to see which ones are good and which ones aren't? I'm not concerned about what I hatch, but want to test my incubator and have some fun with my "new toy".

Help?!

Hey, The best way I know of is to put them in the sink with cold water. If they float -they are no good.

Thanks! I used room temp water actually, but we had fun with it, the girls thought it was great! We found about 6 bad eggs out of 26! I didn't let them stay in long just put them, take them right out! We also candled some of the bad ones! Some were completely black, one had a big air bubble, one didn't have ANYTHING visible, so that was kind of neat to know.

A few of the good eggs had some veins already so hopefully they do okay too!

21 days and counting.... can't wait!
