Any way to get them to lay where you want them to?

@migocontodos~ :

It would work best and faster if you could/would confine them to the coop for a week or better, even two.
They will begin to lay in them (most likely) and will continue after you start turning them back out.
Also, putting the nest in the dimly lite place will work too. Hens do not like to lay eggs in the sunshine.

Unfortunately, I have no way to confine them. They're really not in a coop, just an area of the barn. There isn't any direct sunlight on them. I think I figured out how to post a picture, here it is:

How would you propose putting a cover on them?

Thanks.

I'd use some old cloth and fasten it over one or two nests as an experiment, cutting the cloth after you hang it, into a fringe. That way it's easy to enter/exit but gives a sense of privacy. Maybe if you try this one one high and one low nest???

I was able to find some cheap shower curtain material, nothing clings to it, so if I need nest curtains that's what I'll use. I imagine almost anything would be good except plastic or terrycloth.

Oh! Just noticed the backs of your nest boxes are open, too. She may feel threatened without some protection behind her...
