What are some characteristics of roosters? I have 3 chicks that I'm beginning to wonder about.

Thanks, Sonja

How old are they? Typically the roos will stand upright a bit more when spatting or when active. Fiesty behavior is not always a roo though. I've had some hens that are pretty tough.

It's a buff brahma, a black langshan, and a light brahma I'm wondering about. The light brahma always walks very erect, and has very black wing tips. The black langshan whose 4 weeks old has a comb that puts my 5 week pullets to shame. The buff brahma is a darker shade than my other 2, he's got very thick legs, and he's always the first to greet you at the door. I'll have to take some pics of these guys.

Sonja, post some pics when you can. At 5 - 6 weeks, I'm sure we'll be able to help ya.

Here are pics of the chicks in question. I've added a 4th chick, too.

Our 4 week old black langshan, which my son named Owl Face.

Our 4 week old blue cochin named Fuzzy. Fuzzy is a sweetie that loves to stay by me in the coop, and loves to be petted.

My favorite 4 week old buff brahma name Lightning. This little guy is always the 1st to greet me at the door, and usually hangs by me the entire time I'm in the coop.

Our 3 week old light brahma named Reepicheep.

Thanks for looking at the boys!!
