I have 80 acres and am looking for a fowl that will work well in the wild with no care for tick control. I am open to anything except guinea fowl.

Welcome to BYC.
When you say "with no care" you are intending to provide no shelter or supplemental nutrition? What is the water source on the property? What sort of vegetative supply is present? Where are you located, climate wise - and what sort of seasons do you experience? How does the forage change with the seasonal changes?
What sort of bird *may* be able to sustain itself on your property will depend on these answers.

These are all great questions. I reside in Central OK where winters are sporadic between 75 degrees and 20 degrees. I have 3 ponds with one that is approximately 2 acres. I would not be opposed to housing if needed, but would likely not subsidize diet in most cases. The 80 acres is 60/40 cattle pasture/woods. We have quail and wouldn't mind boosting the population but have read that do not acclimate well and usually die if bred in captivity.
