any1 help plz

I have heard of eggs coming out of the supermarket refrigerated case that were free range and they hatched in someone's incubator. We had a moderator on the EZ BYC that kept his eggs in the refrigerator while waiting to incubate, in the crisper drawer.

In this case someone may have placed free range eggs in the wrong carton. It is entirely possible to have a hatch and in this case they did. Who knows how there birds are kept. In the US a caged bird would probably never be exposed to a rooster but the way brokers buy and sell things these days I would imagine that eggs are eggs are eggs and not all actually are what they say on the cartons.

Buy the way Reptileluuva Congrats. Your got a real bonus with your eggs.

There are people around here that put eggs in the fridge to keep them till they are ready to put under a hen or in bator. They have good luck with them. But they are not store bought eggs. But I noticed lately that the stores around here sell eggs as all natural and free range. So it is growing more popular. Anything is possible.

just managed to log in via another computer, but still can't work out why mine has suddenly stopped an hour after registering to this site.
as my defender and firewall seem all ok.and i have rebooted the system and still won't work.anyway i will just have to keep trying to find out whats happening IF THATS ATALL POSSIBLE.

anyway whilst i can get on here via this computer this is the situation with the chicks!

and its not good:(

well they all hatched 3 needed help to get out which went really well.and others hatched on their own there was 13eggs.3 were bad,so cracked them and disposed of them.7 hatched and seemed to be ok they seemed very weak and after half an hour they died.don't know why they were dry and all that in the brooder but they wouldn't sit up so i knew something wasn't right.
but then the next morning another one hatched on the 3rd of october 07
he seemed different very large compared to the others all i could think of is maybe he's a different breed or somthing.but realised about an hour after something wasn't right either he dryed and two days later started eating and drinking a tiny bit of water, but what was odd was he kept dropping his head as if going to sleep closing his eyes and then waking up 2seconds later then almost straight away he did the same thing again.he did this for seven days but he was very lively even so.then suddenly on the 7th night he died.
he started making clicking noises and just lay on his back i checked to make sure his airways were clear and they were.but it only took about 20seconds in my hand on his back.and he went. so i obviously failed him and all the others thats what im now told.oh well thats life i suppose.
one suvived he /she stopped eating when fuzz died that night and goldie stopped eating and kept cheeping all night for 3nights and goldie was so tiny i was worried if he didn't eat he would also die.as he was very small.
well i needed another youngster quickly i thought so at this stage goldie was 8 days old and i phoned everywhere and looked on the net still no luck.
someone said if hes that unhappy kill him.i wasn't going to do that so i placed an add on www.wightbay.com which is like ebay but for the isle of wight where i live.and no luck then someone said we have one about 3weeks old but very small and were 9% sure its a hen but its has slightly deformed feet as she was in the egg to long, i said ok i will come and look.his chicken were very well kept i thought, all free range apart from this chick who was under lamps now called misty.shes also very leggy as she a ko shamo but shes lovely.

and now goldies happy again and i have had misty checked by one of our local vets who specialises in exotics but also owns and breeds chickens and has done for a long time.he says misty will be fine shes not in pain and as long as you don't mind what it looks like cos i know some people like everything perfect i said well im not showing them so it dosen't matter.and im not giving up on her because of this as long as shes not in pain and can get around plus eat and drink then thats ok as long as she has a good quality of life.and she runs round in the brooder and when i clean them out she tries to fly i just have to clean her feet extra throughly and put tiny bit of baby oil on any cracked areas and keep her claws short so they don't cut her toes as its obvious and also the vet said they will never wear down on their own.so atleast i have these two i think goldie may be a cockerel.i only think that as hes very tame as is misty but he jumps sometimes off the ground you know like when cockerels fight, and he loves pecking his toys and my hands.misty is funny she makes purring noises not the usual trilling done by birds and then she squeaks may be its the breed.and the pics are on my computer.so if/when i can get my computer on the site then i will post them

On a short schedule but I noticed you said you had humidity at 80 and then up to 90? In the future do 50 or so and up it to 70 since high humidity can lead to drowning chicks and improper development.

As for toes, being in the egg too long probably isn't the issue, it's developmental.

As for non thriving birds. I bet it is because of the parent stock. To get healthy birds you need to start with healthy hens. If they are not in the best conditions or not getting proper feed, their chicks will not thrive.

That's great you got some to hatch though!
