Anybody downsizing?

Yes, city says no roos, so I had to move my flock pretty far from me on short notice. Sold off a bunch. Still selling... Still hatching too.

but I must say, the feed bill has gone way down, and the overall quality of hens I'm feeding has gone WAY UP! Check out my Mother's Day Medley auction! That's all my eggs I got for two days! I was getting around 45/day!

I sold all of my PQ silkie pairs on craigslist in January & February.
I decided if I was going to keep them I might as well show them and wanted to start hatching a few good chicks.
I do miss the eggs.

Not so much downsizing as culling out unproductive stock. Also selling the turkey poults we hatched out last month. I'm hoping to get down to about a hundred hens in lay, maybe seven or eight roosters, and seven turkeys. Too many useless eaters right now.

.....Alan.

Downsizing? What's that mean? Seriously, it's something I want to do, but then I see these eggs.... oh and then mille fleur cochins, man, those blue wheaten Ameracaunas are nice....

Yup...me too! Wanna UPsize 4 of my other breeds....so I promised DH I would DOWNsize the others

Already sold 6 hens and still have some more to part with.

I've sold down to about 12 of each of our breeds instead of 50 of each. It sure has helped on the feed bill. I've also got about 100 chicks that I'm fixing to give away because I'm tired of feeding them LOL. So if there's anybody close to me that wants Dominique and cuckoo marans chicks, holler at me.

I am in the process of realizing that I dont need so many... so I am going thru my laying stock and selling a few here and there, making room for the new babies... it really chaps me to sell spoiled, healthy birds in the peak of lay but hey I gotta keep DH happy!

I had 26, last year, have 8 today. Dog killed 3, 2 died of other issues, re-homed 2 roosters who were agressive and then ran into an issue with feather picking so re-homed 5 more and still had issues so just rehomed 6 more. I still have feather picking issues, and have nothing is working to stop it! I sometimes think I have it under control but the bare bottoms are still around!! I'm really thinking of rehoming my remaining girls, sad, but I'd still have my ducks & geese!
