Why do you have to wait until next week?

I use audible.com to catch up on my reading. I get a credit (free book) every month. I read Eragon in like two weeks and that used up my credit til my next one comes in. Unless of course, I want to buy it, which I won't because I am CHEAP

From Eldest (in my copy at least) page 280 Oromis speaking to Eragon...

Morzan was my greatest failure. Brom idolized him. He never left his side, never contradicted him, and never believed that he could best Morzan in any venture. Morzan, I'm ashamed to admit--for it was within my power to stop--was aware of this and took advantage of Brom's devotion in a hundred different ways. He grew so proud and cruel that I considered separating him from Brom. But before I could, Morzan helped Galbatorix to steal a dragon hatchling, Shruikan, to replace the one Galbatorix had lost, killing the dragon's original Rider in the process. Morzan and Galbatorix then fled together, sealing our doom.

So you see, Shruikan had already hatched for his Rider when he was stolen... though we haven't heard that Rider's name we know that there was one. So, no worries of another Rider taking him for their own... unless they do the same 'evil' that Galby did and force it.

As to the Dragon dying when their Rider does... not always. Horrible life, as we saw with Brom, but it doesn't always kill... just makes you wish you were dead. More so for the Rider than the dragon I think, since dragons are naturally stronger. But they will be compelled to avenge their Rider's death, which can easily result in them dying. Rather like what happens if a Warder/Aes Sedai dies in WoT I think.

OHHH now there's a thought... what will Shruiken do if Galby is killed before him? Will he seek revenge or will he just be relieved? Has he lived with his real Rider's death all this time, or did Galby somehow block that and so it'll hit once Galby's 'spell' dies? Should prove interesting... I doubt Shruiken will turn on Galby, magic is too strong though it would certainly be interesting, but somehow I don't see him mourning his death as a typical Dragon/Rider would.

Montana comes to mind for where Paolini lives, but I could be WAY off.
Says he's working on the final book, but considering it was originally supposed to be a trilogy, who knows.

I'm hoping for only 4... I don't think my nerves could handle having to wait for any more than that.
Between this, WoT, Harry Potter... my imagination is in overdrive speculating these last few years.

I buy almost all my books from half.com. Very cheap. I got the Eragon series from there for under five bucks, all three books. And I really liked the books a lot, can't wait to read the last one, I hate waiting....
