Anybody else getting ready for college?

Actually, with cars they let us park for free all four years. I know a lot of colleges don't even let you have cars freshmen year!

If there are buses and shuttles that can take me into town, I would probably rather just use those to get around. The problem is that if I want to come home, my parents have to drive about two and a half hours both ways. There are a few weekends I have to come home and then breaks. It shouldn't be too much for them, but if my dad sees he becomes tired of making the trip, he will just bring down my car.

A little advice:

Good luck and enjoy what should be the BEST time of your life. Balance the fun with the LEARNING and you will have a truly rewarding and life-enhancing experience. Open your mind to new ideas and concepts and try to enjoy even the subjects and classes you might be forced to take to fulfil requirements. I changed a lot during my college days, but still held on to my core values. You should be able to do that as well.

Okay, what about advice for Moms of kids going away to college??? My oldest is leaving for college next weekend. Right now I'm trying not to think about it too much. I feel like I'm really going to fall apart when we take her down to Charleston and leave her.

Good Luck!!!!! I am taking this semester off, and finishing in the spring!!! So mcuh hard work for an older student, but glad to have done it and experianced it. Thankfully I have a wonderful DH and kids that helped push me past the rough parts.

The only thing I can suggest is a "red" pen LOL... all of my professors made us bring red pens and if we didnt... we lost 2 points each time. Oh well some learned... some didnt

Edit: Get to know your prof's. It pays off to be more than a student number, espeically in intro classes. A few of the lower level classes had 500-600 students! But I'm sure you're not going to get that at your college. Our university has 40k students... admitted just over 4 k undergrads for this academic year.

Definitely. In fact, you should probably bow to them as you enter and leave the class room. Always call them "Doctor" not Mr. or Mrs. Bring them do-nuts and other pastries. Offer to wash their cars, mow their grass, clean their homes, or BABYSIT THEIR CHICKENS!

Bit far don't you think?

Do call them Dr or Professor though unless corrected by them otherwise.

Are you new college students keeping your chickens? I remember I thinned down my flock from like 25 or so to about 8 my senior year... and said I was getting out of the egg business.

Now I have 14 plus or minus 10 or so depending on time of year, have two new coops, one for breeding and one for "pullet storage, am selling eggs again, and hatching year round... It's a disease I tell you. I only get to see them once a week though since I don't commute.
