Anybody else guilty?

My BR laid her first egg last weekend, out of our 5 pullets she's the first and I could not be any happier! but I feel so guilty when I take her eggs away from her. She looks so sad

Am I the only one?

LOL I felt a little guilty when my EE pullet laid her first egg last week and I took it away and she was looking for it afterwards. But she's not broody, had no interest sitting on it. I just tell my girls "thank you for the beautiful egg" every time I get one. If any of them ever do go broody though, I'll let them keep some.

Not one bit. The kush life my girls get and the $$$$ I spend on feed - they pay their way with those eggs!

I did. But now I wait till they've left the nest and coop before I take em.

I also wait until they've left the coop before I take the egg - and like Leslie I do say thankyou. But Happy Chooks has a point too - chickens aren't cheap pets to keep. So no, I don't have conscience pangs when I take their eggs.
