The chickens are freaked out. My dog (who is on Prozac for the "holiday") is going insane. I am at my wits end. Please let them STOP! 4 days of it is MORE than enough. Can't people just do it for a couple hours for ONE DAY? Its been like a freakin war zone here. Where do they get the money for it all? I CAN'T STAND IT ANYMORE!!

I feel your pain, my dogs and chickens freak out too. I hate the noise and the smoke gives me asthma problems. I think they are pretty from a distance though. (the pretty ones not the just noisy ones) I am fortunate in that my neighbors don't set that many off, when I'm at work I have to use my inhaler though.

Not as many people set them off here this year. I almost feel bad for buying a bag full so I could "return fire".

I have noticed my birds are more disturbed by me checking on them than by the booms though.

I imagine there will be even more going off in the next few days because the little fireworks stands will be marking them down.

My birds seem to have survived the night as well. My border collie is extremely storm and gun shy. So the 4th isn't fun for her either. However, she copes by running into my closet and falling asleep in the back corner. The place makes her feel sheltered and secure for the duration of the "end of the world". Sometimes she needs a hand and soothing voice to guide her to it, but once she's in the closet, she's fine and will stay there until its all over.

My DH has been deployed many times now, and he HATES fireworks. It makes his PTSD flare up when he's otherwise doing perfect and doesn't have any problems, in fact, outside of the Fourth, it's really nearly impossible to tell he even has PTSD.

Fireworks are thankfully illegal here. But even if they were legal, we'd not be lighting them.

Do not call my husband unpatriotic, unless you'd like to go in his place for the next deployment.

tell hubby thank you..

send him my best wishes

I dislike them as intensely as I do racoons.

They are dangerous. And this crew I married into don't have a lick of sense. I can't enjoy them for watching the grandkids. Their parents have no sense whatsoever. Two years ago one of the grands got burnt. I did not even want to go out there but my DH came in and guilted me into it! We live in the boonies so we are not bothering anyone but the fireworks scare me because of the trees all around.

And this morning I went out and there are fireworks all over my driveway. They are not even considerate enough to clean up their mess.

NEXT year I will announce that we are not shooting them here.....we can go down to my DSD's house and leave her the mess!!

Things are gonna change up here on my mountain. All holidays are going to change and they sure are not going to like it!! When you remarry at this age and get all these adult kids that the world only spins around their own head.....it just ain't easy.

Top it off with fireworks.

Because of serious drought here it is illegal this year to have fireworks. It's been very quiet this yr. I don't miss the noise at all.

One of my ducklings is a little freaked. Other than that no biggie. If loud noises in general were a problem, I would have had to sell my kids!
