Anybody Else just LOVE their neighbors?

My neighbors' dog just died (https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=418539), so last Friday we baked them some chocolate chip cookies and brought them a dozen fresh eggs. They were very interested in the chickens from the beginning, and we're the ones who taught them everything they know about their little flock!

I almost didn't buy my house because of neighbors. I'm a country girl and my cluster of houses is to close. but couldn't beat the price and i could have chickens. i'm glad. most of my neighbors i like, or have no problems with. 1 i love we went in on meat chickens together. our kids treat each other like siblings the good and the bad. hubbys play well together we house/pet sit for each other. I do love my neighbors.

I love my neighbors too! I have my MIL and FIL on one side and then family friends on the other. My husband actually used to babysit the family friend since he was 3 years old (he is in his 20's now)

And did I mention my FIL used to have chickens for YEARS (until a fox family decimated his flock one night - he is elderly and didn't bother getting more), so he is always there to give me tips and advice. Then my other neighbor (whom is a family friend) grew up with chickens and offered to do any killing / processing I needed done in exchange for being able to keep a couple birds for his own freezer camp! Works out great since I am a softy and I couldnt kill them...

I love the Barter system!! <3

I'm in the burbs and have 24 houses on my street. I either really like or barely know all of them. All but 1 are great, and they are are pretty marginalized by the rest of us. I would consider a few of them friends rather than just neighbors.

I'm lucky also.. I have very good neighbors. (I have 5 neighbors and we get along good with them all... never ANY trouble..) They never complain about my animals..and i have 3 roosters and 2 noisy geese.
Heck.. a couple of weeks ago my pigs got out (we wernt home) and they returned them to my yard for us!..
They always offer to help when they see us outside doing any major work being done.(cutting down trees, making a paver walkway..etc..).. and we do the same for them.
We're watching/feeding one neighbors indoor cats right now.....
and i know that if we needed them to feed our animals for a vacation they would do it.
Yup.. i'm lucky in the neighbor department.

I only know the folks to one side of me. Have waved to one other set of neighbors. Have only seen the folks on one side of me twice - though I've seen someone over there working on the lawn a time or two. I think they hire someone, though. They don't even have a mailbox on the post. The folks caddy corner to me -- I've seen them a few times but wouldn't know them if I saw them on the street. I spoke in passing to another neighbor as I tried to catch a stray dog one day while I was out picking up trash.

The best neighbors are the ones that don't cause any problems for anyone. The more we stay to ourselves, the less chance we have of offending each other.

I love all mine except one-she always complains to everyone I know about my roosters-except me...LOl she's skeered of me since I told her DH to tell her mind her own business and if there's an issue to come stright to me and not everyone else who couldnt give two hoo-has! hehe He likes me

he really does..He can't talk to her that way so I do it for him..My MIL/FIL live on one side -head of APA ( Aidrondack Park Agency) lives in front of me-lady who hates my roos- and SIL and her family on other side can't get any better than that...We live out in the country what do people expect

I have neigbors? Oh yeah the closest one is a 1/4 mile away, and they're my inlaws. You make the call.

Yeah, my neighbors aren't close either and so I don't know them at all....just to wave to now and again. And that suits me just fine! I'm sure they would help me if I really needed it and I would do the same but we are all private people and we seem to like the status quo. So....love my neighbors? I love my fellow man and it is enough for me.
