Anybody going to be hatching around March 22?

We are having very opposite problems! Mine went up to 75% so I grabbed the sponge out, but it's still at 71%

Good luck, I have fought keeping it up, hopefully I won't have to figure out how to get it down. Maybe open more vents?

Tomorrow is day 20 for my two broodies. The BO is sitting on 11 eggs, and our buff leghorn/cochin cross is sitting on 6. I have left them alone - haven't peeked. Can't wait to see chicks tomorrow and Saturday!

HI, everyone!

My first hatch ever is underway!

Yesterday, I got 8 out of 10 button quail to join us. Totally rocks! I did have to keep telling my kids -- you have to close the outer door now. Then, my husband comes through and tells ME -- you have to close the door now!

Today my first two of 16 chicken eggs pipped! Woo hoo!

It's like an extra Christmas Eve!

I'd post pics, but I don't know how.

Any pointers?

Mine are due on Sat. 21st. First time hatching with a homemade incubator. Everything seems by the book (or web I should say), only ???? are these:

1. Low humidity at the beginning - about 40% until I got a humidifier and set it up outside the incubator. Now I can get it to hold steady at about 55%. These per an uncalibrated off the shelf humidity guage. Since I've read many different opinions on humidity I think this will be ok but not sure.
2. No turner, so I had to open several times a day to hand turn the eggs. I worried about handling them so much but still couldn't resist candling them about 4 times.
3. Using a good industrial temperature controller that is precise, but does not go to fractions of a degree. I set it at 99deg.
4. Small fan but it gets the air around ok.

What do you think?
