Anybody hatching around the 17th?

One would be a victory - Six is just AWESOME. So far six are out and one more has pipped!!! And the turkey appears to be making it!

I have Buff Orpingtons hatching today from eggs I bought from hinkjc! So far 6 are out and I can see 3 others pipped! There are two that I can't see well enough through the window to see if they are pipped yet... they are beautiful! Thanks to hinkjc for the fantastic eggs!

The GREAT news! Three BBS Rocks, two partridge rocks, and one poult all dry and doing well. Three more turkeys hatching.

And I am an idiot. Note to self: If you look at a small gap between the wire in the incubator and the wall of the incubator and you think, A Chick Will NEVER Fit In There, go take your head and beat the nearest wall with YOUR HEAD HARD...

They can and will squirm into the smallest gap and become caught. I went to check on the two drying in the Uglybator and found one....HUH

A flashlight and a fast check and I find the poor thing, a BBS Rock for pete's sake, with one leg between the wire and the wall. I would have sworn not even the tiniest chick limb could have gotten in there.

I've cleaned the gash in his leg. We'll see how things go. I'm grateful I noticed before he died. But

Poor wee thing. Looks like he's a house resident for awhile.

I feel like such an idiot.

Hi all,

I am having a great hatch so just went to see who else is hatching now. From a batch of 24 mutts and 15 Easter eggers, I still had 31 with something happening on day 18. It is nowday 21 and it's hardto count them allthrough the little windows! I have at least 18 chicks and 3 pips that I can see. It is crowded in there!

Plus I still have 3 racks turning in the center, with 11 muscovies, 7 pheasants, and 6 chicks. As you can tell my math doesn't add up, 3 of the chicken eggs are stacked over the pheasants, hopefully being turned at the same time.

This has been a crazy staggered set-up, but so far so good! This is my 3rd time incubating, and I think I got it finally! Ventilation first, then humidity!

Staggered hatches are insane - but what are you going to do, give up?

Way to go! That's a lot of peepers at once!

I'm probably lucky that the Uglybator only holds 24 max.

Hows the little one with the gash? And dont beat yourself up over that, amazingly enough Ive had them get under the wire in the hova and into the water and drown. Ill never know how they did that one.

Here is one of the buff silkies i hatched. I hatched out 3/5.

I had a baby come night before last (day 20) at 4 am. The only one that had pipped. I had to take her out of the bator last night because she was getting her foot caught in the wire. Another egg had pipped in the afternoon yesterday. I checked on the baby an hour after I put her in the hatcher. She was dead.

I don't know what happened. My temps were right and everything. She was chirping away for an hour and then nothing. She didn't seem weak at all, she actually seemed pretty strong to me. I am devastated! I don't think I can do this again. Its very different from getting day old, or week old chicks and then something happening. I actually watched this little one pip, zip and then plop out of the egg. I didn't get a minute of sleep last night. All I kept thinking about is that little baby and how I failed her

The other one that pipped still hasn't done a thing since yesterday. Not sure whats going on. The other 13...not a single pip yet. This is day 22 for me, so I am losing hope. I really don't want to do this again. The loss of one is so sad.

I've got pips this morning!

I lifted up my broodies and saw at least two eggs pipping and chirping away!

3 out of 6 hatched, soooo exciting!!! 8 hours between first pip and hatch, but about 8 of us were able to witness, was very cool!! and I woke up to 2 more, another yellow fuzzy and one that is black and white (very cute) these are from eggs from our birds (black & red stars) and there are 14 more in there for another hatch next weekend!! hoping for the best!
